ESSENTIAL SKILLS VIDEO ASSIGNMENT #3
1) Watch at least the first 40 minutes of the documentary Distracted by Everything (Frontline, Digital Nation).
2) Respond to the following:
As a teacher and a parent, my hope is that young people can see the value in focusing on a single task at a time. I truly believe that when we are distracted with constant interruptions or are trying to do two things at once - we are not truly capable of doing either task very well.
Certainly, there are times when we can, or should, divert our attention away from the task at hand. But, in able to truly learn and study something new, we need to focus all of our attention on that new thing.
Think about and answer the following questions on the blog:
- What thing can you think of that you will need to (or want to) learn in the future that will require your full attention to learn?
- How do you think this unit on multitasking will change your own study habits, if at all?
- How do you think the human brain is being affected by the near constant use of technology and the distractions this use creates?

VIDEO 1 -Study Tips (do you want to try any of these ideas in class? I have supplies! Just let me know...)
VIDEO 2 - How to Take Notes
The tips will improve my studying because they are fun and they still teach you while you're having fun. So if you have a couple of hours you can study and then watch a video or text your friends. Also if you are board and want to see if you have any tests or homework that are coming up you can scrapbook your agenda and have fun doing that while looking at your test. But if you have blankets you could have a little den and study.

ReplyDeleteSome tips I learned to help me get a good grade on a test or a quiz. One is take deep breaths and relax. The next one I learned is if I seem like I am getting frustrated turn over the test and write down what I remember. Another tip is to get a good night sleep the night before. The last one is to eat a good healthy breakfast to stay consitrated.

From video 1 I like the idea of decorating you’re agenda. I also like the idea of creating a study nook to study in for beater scenery to look at and feel comfortable. I like the idea of keeping myself organize and prepared. from video 2 I like the idea of the 3 step method which is 1=wright questions and conclusions not facts 2= color code 3=review. I will use these methods to improve my learning.

from video 1 i liked the idea of writing stuff on your mirror. I also liked the idea of a study spot. I loved the idea of rewarding your self for every page. I'm not very organized so this should help me get better my_name_jeff
ReplyDeleteIn video two I liked that instead of writing all the notes you just write questions and the answer. you don't write the facts or everything that they said. I hope i can imply this to my school note taking. my_name_jeff
